Students listened to stories read aloud and responded by using snow as their “canvas” to recreate scenes from the book they heard.  Afterward the class did a gallery walk where students described their snow creations to the rest of the class.

• Using the snow and ice around the outdoor reading room, 2nd graders enjoyed the challenge of recreating scenes from Caralyn Buehner’s Snowmen at Night.

After listening to a chapter read aloud from  House of a Million Pets by Ann Hodgman,  4th graders recreated

scenes of favorite animals in their snowy forest classroom.
